The digital transformation of economy and society is a promising and challenging development that gives – especially in the field of Connected Mobility – rise to many questions regarding the evolution of new business models and an appropriate legal framework for them. The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, the Munich IP Dispute Resolution Forum and the Center for Intellectual Property and Competition Law of the University of Zurich are therefore organizing a joined workshop on Connected Mobility at which business representatives, legal and technical experts have the opportunity to discuss the future of Connected Mobility. Topics include IP transactions, R&D Collaboration, data protection, competition law and ADR.

09.00 – 09.15 Welcome Remarks
09.15 – 10.15 I. Business Models and Industry Experience
  Moderated by Peter Picht (CIPCO, IPDR Forum)

Panelists will discuss business models and industry experience in the field of connected mobility and of the role new entrants will play. Speakers include George Ivanov (Manager of Public Policy Development and Regulatory Affairs at Waymo), Hamid Zarghampour (Chief Strategist, Swedish Transport Administration).

10.15 – 11.30 II. Legal Issues, Contracts and Disputes
  Moderated by Peter Picht (CIPCO, IPDR Forum)

Panelists Sabine Krabichler, Bernd Ctortecka (both Cyber Valley), Stefan Richter (Hoyng Rokh Monegier LLP) and Herbert Zech (University Basel) will discuss legal issues concerning IP transactions, R&D Collaboration, data protection, technical regulation, competition law and ethical implications.

12.00 – 12.45 III. Dispute Resolution
  Moderated by Heike Wollgast (WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center)

Panelists Joachim Feldges (Allen & Overy LLP), Paul Salazar (Siemens) and Claudia Tapia (Ericsson) will discuss opportunities for ADR in the area of connected mobility, the use of new technologies in ADR proceedings, necessary expertise of a tribunal and the use of expert evidence, and will give insights on drafting effective ADR clauses and submission agreements.
